I'm looking forward to NEHBC's worship gatherings tomorrow. A couple of heads up:
First, logistically: due to the holiday weekend, we will have both the 9am and 10:30am services as well as ministry to our preschoolers, but we will have no bible study classes for children, teens, or adults.
Second, spiritually: I'd encourage you to read Hebrews 4:14-16 in anticipation of tomorrow's sermon. In both services, we will pray for Dale Day and his family. The Days are very healthy 70s who moved to Houston from North Carolina last Spring. They left their church of more than 40 years where they had a very strong network of friends and joined their son and his family at NEHBC. In October, he was shockingly diagnosed with stage four cancer and there is nothing docs can do. He has less than two months left. They have been members of NEHBC less than one year where they know few people because they had little time prior to October to develop meaningful relationships with people. Their faith and joy in the Lord is strong. We will pray for them tomorrow. Mr Day will be the 3rd NEHBCer to die of cancer in the last six months. In addition, we are going to have a rich time singing, reading the Scriptures, praying, preaching the Word, proclaiming the gospel, responding to Christ, and giving our money to the Lord.
May Jesus Christ, the Head of our church, be exalted tomorrow, as NEHBC gathers in Him, for Him, and through Him tomorrow on the Lord's Day.
