I'm reminded this week while I'm in Austin, Texas, celebrating the holidays with Nicole's family, of how important it is for NEHBCers to live on mission.
I needed a couple of hours yesterday and today to get some work done and thus went to Starbucks. Both yesterday and today I got to share the gospel with men. Yesterday, I helped a sceptic take one step closer to believing. Today, I got to lead a man to faith in Christ and then helped him find a local church to connect with this coming Sunday.
Both encounters were to me random, but were clearly arranged by the Holy Spirit who is working to bring all people to faith in Christ. Both encounters happened as I said hello to people and the Holy Spirit burdened me to share the gospel with these two men. Neither man heard the gospel from someone on a formal mission trip or during a local church's scheduled evangelism program. An NEHBCer simply lived life with spiritual eyes and two men in another city heard the gospel.
I am convinced that if NEHBCers live life on mission, going through life with spiritual eyes, that we can greatly influence Houston and our nation for Jesus Christ. If we just go about our schedules here in town or on trips out of town, conscious of the Holy Spirit, we will influence many people for Christ.
More and more NEHBCers are living on mission. We need you to join us and help us become a living community of God that exists to make disciples. Glory to God.
Would you stop and pray right now and ask the Holy Spirit to fill you and to give you a deep sensitivity to His leading in your life. I bet that within seventy two hours you will have been prompted by Him to share the gospel with someone, somehow.
