Adventures in Big Church

Well, today did not go nearly as well as last week for Cassidy, our two year old. Two words: spectacular meltdown. We had prepared her for every big church scenario we could think of and apparently we missed at least one scenario.

During the singing, Cassidy moved down our row for me to hold her. While I was holding her on my end of the row, another family was seated down where Cassidy's big church bag was and Cassidy lost her seat all together. (A turn of events that is perfectly acceptable by the way--just not to a 2 year old who had set up her area before worship began.) We didn't realize Cassidy lost her seat until she went back to reclaim it and found an adult sitting in it. From there it was a matter of time before she lost it with such gusto that the sermon came to a brief halt while the entire service waited for Nicole and Cassidy to exit.

Discipling small children is not easy--that's for sure. But, it's a responsibility we try to take seriously. Nicole had a good chat with her and Cassidy wants to be in big church again and we want her in there, so we will do it again next Sunday. It will be a few more Sundays until she acclimates to the worship services.
