Monday through Wednesday of this week, NEHBC will undergo our annual, external, independent financial audit. PickensSnodgrass&Kock, or as we call them "PSK", an accounting firm in Dallas and a leader in church finance, will be snooping around our business office and financials. This is not a cheap process for us, but it is money well spent--we want to know that our internal financial controls and systems are sound and working and of acceptable standards. We want to make sure the pastor of our church has no access to the church's money, that it is as close to impossible as one can get for anyone to embezzle from NEHBC, that money was spent on what it was supposed to be spent on, that our financial statements accurately reflect our financial situation, etc. It is a very big deal for me that NEHBC's finances are squeaky clean--we are coming to the end of NEHBC's 8th year in existence and this will be our 8th independent, external audit. If this audit finds anything wrong, it will be the first time. We have a first rate business office that every NEHBCer can trust.
