Picture this: A 66 year old, outdated, 2,000 sq ft church education building in ill repair that doesn't meet city code. We ripped up the floors, tore down the walls, ripped out the ceiling, and pulled out the plumbing and electricity. The entire interior was rebuilt with electricity, plumbing, A/C conduits, and computer server conduit. New floors, new walls, new bathrooms, and new ceiling with recessed lighting.
Here is what the CPC has: a lobby/waiting area, education classrooms, a volunteer room, a kitchen, director's office, bathrooms, stockroom--diapers/food/clothes/etc, pre-natal visit room, ultrasound room, and three counseling rooms. It could well be the best CPC facility in Houston.
Almost all the work has been done by NEHBCers and some volunteers from Faith Family Baptist Church. Some work has been done by subcontractors.
But, what has really made this possible is 4-5 people who reorganized their families and lives around the CPC project for the last 3 months. I'm talking 30 or more hours a week while balancing jobs and other responsibilities. Their commitment to this ministry reminds me of Matt 13:44-45: the kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in a field and when a man finds it he goes and sells all he has to buy the field.
We must finish a few items yet and then it will take The Source for Women two weeks ramp up time and then we will open a 5 day a week CPC that holds to the inerrancy of God's Word, biblical counseling, and a strong pro-life position.
They are anticipating based on area demographics that we will save 2,500 babies each year. That's 200 babies per month. Glory to God.
NEHBC isn't just pro-life at the voting booth and on petitions, we have spent a lot of money and many hours of labor in an effort to reach families and save unborn babies. I pray that in the coming years we will reach many families for Christ through the CPC.
Love our City, Love the World!
