My sermon got messed up this morning because when I got up, I felt impressed to talk for a few moments about the dynamics of encountering God corporately as opposed to individually. It messed up my sermon because I hadn't planned to talk about that and so I lost the timing of my sermon. As a result, I preached three vaguely similar, but different sermons this morning on the church at Antioch in Acts 13:1-3.
The 11:10 service got what ended up being a sermon entirely on fasting! Not even sure how that happened. Yet, after the service a man came to tell me he was fasting TODAY and didn't properly understand the spiritual dynamics of what he was doing and then I preached on it. Another lady told me she was just talking to a friend this week about fasting and boom...I preached about it.
I never know what the Lord is doing in people's lives, but I'm confident the Word of God is sufficient and deals with needs we don't even know we have until we encounter certain passages of the Scriptures.
