As announced in midweek worship last night, Ms Coleman passed away at 6:10pm yesterday. I'm reminded how unexpectedly death usually comes and how ill-equipped we are to process the death of loved ones.
I'm finding comfort in the fact that Ms Coleman very likely never experienced pain from her fall. Her body posture showed no signs of the natural human instinct to break one's own fall. She must have been unconscious before she fell.
I also find comfort in what someone pointed out to me this afternoon. The last song Ms Coleman ever sang was just minutes before she lost consciousness for good and here are the words:
Draw me close to You, never let me go, I lay it all down again, to hear You say that I'm Your friend. You are my desire, no one else will do, no one else could take Your place, to feel the warmth of Your embrace. Help me find the way, bring me back to You. You're all I want. You're all I ever needed. Help me know You are near.
Wow! Imagine singing that to the Lord and the next time you are conscious you are face-to-face with Him in heaven?
Here are Ms Coleman's funeral plans:
Friday visitation: 6-8pm
Saturday service: 10am
Both are at Forest Park East Funeral Home: 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, Texas.
I have the privilege of performing Ms Coleman's funeral. We will honor Ms Coleman and exalt the Lord Jesus Christ.
