and there are still only 5...

After Chloe's morning nap I had some errands I needed to run so I decided to brave it and loaded all four kids in the truck and we did the Lowes-Walmart-Target swing. I also decided it would be helpful to stop at a Chinese buffet and fill up the kids so I just have to fix something small and quick for dinner. Eating at the restaurant table, I considered what a fine job I was doing with the kids by myself. Then I recognized it was a good teaching opportunity so I said to the kids, "this is what life would be like if mommy died" thinking it was a good time to remind them again that mommy and daddy are mortal and will die one day. Yet, the stream of conversation did not flow where I thought it would as Colton responded without missing a beat, "then you'd have to find us another mommy fast because you need some help--Cassidy doesn't even have shoes on." And I realized I'm not doing such a fine job with the kids by myself after all. Nicole, we miss you a lot.
