The NT Church Sending and Receiving Mission Teams

One aspect of early NT church life was the sending out and welcoming home of missionaries from their church family. For example, in Acts 13:2-3, the Holy Spirit leads Paul and Barnabas to go on a mission trip. The church commissioned them out by the laying on of hands. Acts 13:4-14:25 journals their mission trip. Acts 14:26-27 explains how the church enthusiastically received them home upon their return and gathered to hear a report of what the Lord did during the trip.

At NEHBC, we try to come to the bible for direction and not permission. This is why we commission out our mission teams by having them come before our church family for prayer on a Sunday morning. We earnestly pray for them while they are gone. Upon their return, we welcome them home and gather on a Wednesday night to hear a report of what the Lord did during their trip and celebrate His goodness.

Tonight is such an opportunity. Recently, Team Estonia returned from their trip and tonight's service is their time to share with us about their trip. I want to encourage you to make every effort to be there.

Nathan
