This has been an insane week in which the normal 60 hours quickly surpassed 70. But, that's ok. It happens. Here are some of my random NEHBC thoughts:
1. Earlier this week, all our staff offices were moved upstairs on the back side of the facility. We are set up in closets and adult bible study class rooms. In just a couple of weeks, interior renovation will begin which includes demolition of the staff office area.
2. Thursday and Friday, NEHBC's construction zone was a hub of activity and the piers have been drilled! If you haven't been by NEHBC since last Sunday, you are in for a surprise tomorrow.
3. Today, NEHBC men will be outside the Atascocita Walmart from 10a - 4p selling tickets to our 2010 Sportsmen's Day. Men, you are encouraged to show up and help.
4. Tomorrow in all three services we are celebrating our most recent facility expansion--Farrington Mission. We are also baptizing at the YMCA following the 3rd service. It's going to be a great day.
5. Monday, at our 6:45pm town hall meeting, we will get down to business planting our mission down in the 5th Ward. You might not have been around 7 years ago to be on the NEHBC launch team, but here is your opportunity to be on a launch team for a great Kingdom work.
6. Friday, Team Portugal leaves for a week of bible distribution and prayer walking in Lisbon, the nation's capital. We will commission them out in tomorrow's services.
I'm unusually tired and overwhelmed, but the Lord is good and does not give us more than we can handle. Heavy on my mind the last few weeks is a quote a man once made: "I have so much to do today, I can't afford not to stop to pray". It requires supreme spiritual discipline to spend extensive time in prayer during especially busy times, but in my case it has paid off because the Lord has revealed to me a path forward for NEHBC to handle all that is going on in a way that will keep us on track with the Lord's will. He never gives us more than we can handle, but sometimes when we feel we have more than we can handle, we have to stop to pray to find the path forward. He is faithful.
I can't wait for tomorrow. Glory to God.
