Last night in midweek worship we began a 4-5 week miniseries in the middle of Leviticus, ch.s 18-20, on God's principles for living lives that are marked by a deep sense of soul satisfaction.Leviticus 18:1-5 is the opening section for ch.s 18-20 and God lays out 2 paths for His people, each one headed to a definite destination. Path 1: vs. 3--walking in the statutes of the Egyptians and Canaanites which ends in vs. 28-29--destruction. Path 2: vs. 4--walking in the statutes of God which ends in vs. 5--meaningful, secure life. (Christ tells us in Matthew 7:13-14 of the same two paths that lead to the same definite destinations.)
Throughout the rest of Leviticus 18-20, the Lord lays out the components His people have to get right in order to live soul satisfied lives. Last night we unpacked the first component--sexual purity. Sexuality is a huge deal...big enough to block you from living a soul satisfied life. We have to get the sex factor right. This coming Wednesday night we will unpack the next component.
