My intentions with the widows are driven by one Scripture: if you want to gain life, you must give yours away. The temptation when we experience crisis or tragedy is to do the opposite. The temptation is to shutdown and go into shock or just quit serving the Lord and advancing the Kingdom. The problem is that begins a vicious cycle: not serving the Lord leads to loss of joy and fulfillment. One must do what feels unnatural, but is natural in the culture of God. One must remember in times of tragedy and crisis that there is no more important time to be intentional about serving the Lord because one gets life by giving one's own life away.
So, when it comes to our widows, my intention is to lead them to serve the Lord because it will bring joy and fulfillment to their lives if they have lost it.
One time, we prayer walked Farrington Mission. One time we wrote letters of encouragement to NEHBC college students and soldiers. We've spent lots of time in prayer. Today, we wrote letters to NEHBCers who faithfully serve the Lord in low profile places, spent time in prayer, and then went to lunch. We had a great time.
I'm thankful to God for the opportunity to minister to these ladies.
