My best friend in childhood during my life in South Africa arrives today with his wife. They are on a three continent tour and are stopping off at our house for a week. We've been very much looking forward to their arrival. The last time I saw them was May 2010 in Johannesburg. This is the one lifelong friendship I've had. Besides our friendship, the week will be good for me because it will challenge me to be less ethnocentric. International friendships are invaluable to the Christ-follower as we seek to think more like our non-American God.
