has expressed interest in membership. She is Columbian and moved to the
States only recently. She is a sister-in-Christ and a member of a baptist
church in Columbia. This gets me fired up.
The New Testament teaches that the success of a local church is measured by
it's health, not size. How does one measure the health of a church? That's a
discussion for another time, but certainly in a context like NEHBC's,
mutiple nationalities is one factor. Rev 7 says there will be people from
every people group gathered around the thrown in one place, worshipping
Christ together. The local church in a multicultural, geographical context
like NEHBC's should reflect this. The collection of multiple people groups
worshipping together reflects our citizenship in heaven, that we are a
global/international body that belongs to the Kingdom of God. While we have
a host nation for which we are very grateful, we are not a national church.
Just counting off the top of my head, if this sweet sister joins NEHBC, that
will be folks from eleven different people groups that are members of NEHBC.
May our worship gatherings reflect the gospel's availability to anyone.
Glory to God.
