Feed the hungry offering

I'm getting lots of texts, emails, and twitter messages from people who weren't there about last night's offering. Here is what happened.

An inner city mission in Houston's 5th ward that NEHBC works with called us about 2 hours before last night's service to let us know their food pantry is completely bare. They also contacted 3-4 other churches. They need an immediate inventory of food to carry them until the Houston Food Bank can restock them. They need the money today.

So last night's offering in our midweek service was without advanced notice, cash only, and the only opp to give to this need. It had to be this way to meet the mission's deadline. We trusted that those who were supposed to give would be there with cash on hand.

Here's what we were reminded of last night: NEHBC loves the hurting and the helpless.
