The pain is worth it. We have a great group of teens at our church and we had a blast spending time with them. We are so glad we went.
Nicole and I don't get to be in their lives like we want to be, but the Lord has raised up some great folks to minister to our teens. Getting to spend a day watching our youth pastor, Tim Wheeless, interact with the kids reminded me that there is no question the Lord called him here for such a time as this. The Lord is using Tim to bring the pieces into place for great things to happen with our teens. I'm thankful for Tim and his leadership. I would be thrilled if my kids were teens in our youth group right now.
A week from tomorrow, we split the middle schoolers and high schoolers into different bible study hours on Sunday mornings. It is going to allow those that work with our teens to minister more strategically to them. Its really hard to meaningfully disciple an 11 year old and 18 year old at the same time as they are in such radically different seasons of life. One is transitioning out of childhood and one is fixing to choose a career path and possibly a spouse. It will be an adjustment for a few weeks as we all get used to such a significant change to our youth ministry, but the benefits will become obvious.
Today I prayed for our teens as they prepare for another school year. Would you take a moment to pray for them?
