Periodically, pastors and even seminary professors will say something about how interesting it is that I use microtext stuff (blog, email blasts, and most recently Twitter: @NEHBC) to lead our church. Truth be told, it was never a planned strategy, we just kind of fell into it. This blog started out as a weekly, e-newsletter for our church family. I felt the pressure to move to a running blog mostly because with the time crunch to fit in all our Sunday services, there is hardly time for announcements and other NEHBC happenings in the services. I figured that by posting announcements, happenings, explaining why certain things are happening at our church, and some teaching on the local church, our folks could just come here at their leisure and get up to speed on what is going on. From time to time I sprinkle in some personal stuff for a change of pace. Mostly, this is just the best way I have found to put out info to our church family whom I deeply love and lead by God's grace and theirs.
