Yet another significant growth problem still exists: parking. Our parking ministry team regularly reports no parking spots available during the 10am hour. For example, at one point this past Sunday, there were 4 parking spots left and that was with cars parked along the curbs. We have to have more parking . . . now.
As a result, you will soon see a new parking annex at NEHBC, a temporary one, but more parking lot space nonetheless. We are going to limestone/gravel the site where the parking lot expansion will be in the building expansion project. The work you will soon see is part of the plans for our large building expansion project and will be used in the building expansion project, so we are just getting a little bit of a head start in the parking lot.
Because of the master plan, the parking expansion will be to the south of the existing south parking lot--on the new road sign end of the parking lot. That area is currently a grassy field, but not for long. We will go ahead and bring in the limestone and gravel which will provide a very good, temporary parking lot. We will not yet pave it because of the additional cost.
When we have it ready, I'm going to ask our members to join the staff in parking out there. Yes, it will be a bit of a walk, but Christian hospitality is allowing our guests to have the best parking spots. We don't expect our mothers with very small children in the parking annex, nor the elderly, or those who need the handicapped parking spaces up front. But, we will need as many people as possible to park in the far lot to help alleviate our parking issues.
This is so great. Inconvenience, sacrifice, and giving of ourselves is required for making more disciples and it is so worth it because we are simply imitating what it cost Jesus to reach us. We are simply turning around and offering to others the same kind of love that Jesus has given us.
You should begin to see signs of progress in the additional parking space soon.
