Today, I heard this story from a 50s, male NEHBCer:
He was at a company meeting in Pittsburgh. He and an Eygptian born colleague who works in Montreal were flying out at similar times on different flight and thus went to the airport together. The NEHBCer went to his gate, but felt convicted by the Holy Spirit to go sit with his colleague at the other's gate. So the NEHBCer did. During the conversation, the NEHBCer asked his colleague if he is a church goer which led to the colleague asking the NEHBCer about our church which gave the NEHBCer the opp to share the gospel from start to finish. The colleague did not confess Jesus as Lord there at the gate, but did express strong interest in further discussions about the matter. I'm so proud of the NEHBCer who lives on mission. I love hearing these stories. It encourages me so much.
How did the Egyptian living in Montreal get to hear the gospel? Because a Houston based Christ follower lives life on mission. I'm a firm believer that there are enough Christ followers in America that if we all just lived on mission, we'd not need any special evangelistic efforts in our own cities nor domestic mission trips. We could give all our attention overseas. There are enough Christians who work in our cities and who travel our country on business to reach the USA with the gospel. If requires all of us to live on mission, though.
As one NEHBCer told me this morning, "when my company sends me on a business trip, as far as I'm concerned, it is a company paid mission trip. My job is to sow the gospel in that city."
Glory to God.
