Connie Nichter

She is one of NEHBC's sweet saints. She has been an NEHBCer for years. She
has been a constant source of encouragement to her pastor. She loves our
corporate worship and her small group. She has served our church family
sacrificially, willingly, and joyfully. She was a key player in starting our
monthly widow gathering. She won her first bout with cancer a few years ago.
Unless the path she is on currently changes, she wont win this one. The
doctors have given her 3-6 months and hospice got involved yesterday. Pastor
Greg and I visited her again this morning. I can't verbalize how I feel when
one of my sheep are enduring this. I don't talk about feelings much, but
situations like this hurt. I'm grateful we can trust the Lord to know what
is best. I do. She does. She is praying for healing here on this earth, but
she told me she's open to whatever God wants. Her faith is strong. Her
eternity is secure. The next few months are uncertain. Pray for our sweet
sister.

Her small group has been to her what every small group should be during a
time like this: a living community of God. The steady stream of prayers,
visits, flowers, cards, phone calls, meals, rides to the hospital, and just
sitting with her in her home is incredible. Her small group has been
rallying around her for some time. Her family keeps bragging on these NEHBC
ladies they don't even know. That's how it should be. By this, Ms Connie's
family is finding out that we are His disciples, that her small group is
deeply committed to Ms Connie's well being. Glory to God.
