Ms Connie's Memorial Service

According to her son and best friend, she would have loved it. We did our
best to honor her and exalt her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The gathering
was everything a memorial service should be: laughter, tears, sharing,
reminiscing, and ultimately finding our hope and answers in God and His
Word. We were faithful to share the gospel and call unbelievers to salvation
while providing comfort and encouragement from God's Word. Per Ms Connie's
wishes, we also had finger foods...more than I could ever have
imagined...trays and trays of delicious sandwiches, cookies, brownies,
chips, vegetables, and the like. When I left an hour after the service
ended, the lobby was still packed with people eating and visiting. I wish
she could have seen it. I also wish she could have seen how many people
came...well over 200. In her trademark humility, last month Ms Connie asked
me to have her service in one of our large classrooms because surely there
wouldn't be many people present. Ha! God is good.
