stupid is as stupid does

So, I thought I throw out this little piece of self-deprecating humor. While
running 6 miles Thursday at 10pm when it was 91 degrees, I wondered if it
was harder to run 6 miles in 91 degrees or 5 miles in 100 degrees. So today,
I waited for it to get to 100 degrees and then took off on a 5 mile course.
The first mile, all was fine. The second mile I was hot. The third mile I
was overheating and took note that I had yet to see another runner out and
about. The 4th mile...I did not finish. At the 3.2 mile mark I threw up. I
pressed on. At the 3.7 mile mark my body refused to go any further. After
the stars and wooziness passed, I realized the closest church member lived
about 200 yards from where I was sitting. So I walked to their house, lay
down in their yard with my face under their water faucet and let the water
pour on my face until I realized the reason I was gagging was because I was
waterboarding myself. Then I went and rang their door bell to ask for a ride
home. Except they didn't open the door. Which is probably because they
didn't recognize the sopping wet weirdo at their front door. So I sat under
the overhang of their front door for about 15 minutes and then began looking
for a car to wave down to ask for a ride home. The first car I tried to wave
down swerved around me. The second car slowed down, but it was a woman so
the giant wet guy in the middle of the street madly waved his arm telling
her to go on. The third car I stood in the road and blocked his way. He
rolled his window down a bit and after l asked for a ride home he told me
"I'm not comfortable doing that" and drove off. I think it's the beard. Thus
began the long walk home. By the way, in case you missed the conclusion of
the experiment, it is easier to run 6 miles in 91 degrees than 5 in 100+.
