Today I was informed by our Church Administrator that over 70% of NEHBC's revenue now comes in on-line. Less than 30% comes in via cash and checks. This is a great statistic. The National Association of Church Business Administrators (NACBA) says the average church that offers on-line giving receives less than 30% of its revenue via the internet. Looking at our percentage, you'd think we are a church of just young people. I never dreamed we could get so many middle age and empty nester folks to give on-line.
I do not want anyone to feel like they can't give in person via cash or check. If that's your prefered method, I support you completely. Some have on-line security concerns and some have personal convictions about the matter.
However, if it doesn't make any difference to you, it does to us. On-line giving helps the business office because giving records are updated automatically and eliminates the need for manual entries. More importantly, it helps our financial planning and forecasting because giving becomes much more stable and predictable.
